(Sept. 18) Actually I love ravens. This guy was trying to take the cap off of a solar powered light when I happened by. I did use Thusie's suggestion of adjusting the EC, but not enough. I had to play with it a bit in photoshop, and the detail showed up better as bw. I probably should clean up the sky a bit, but I'm thinking of using this for Halloween somehow.

on September 19, 2006ROFL -- you made me laugh. I love my little rebel, but it is a little like riding a old shetland pony around a steeplechase course. It takes three shots and then has to rest for 15 seconds ("gotta take a moment here; keep on focusing without me!"). And focusing can be a trip -- "got it, no, there, no, there, oh, look, an intervening branch, is that it?" I use manual focus quite a bit for anything remotely complicated. Otherwise the poor camera practically faints trying to figure out what it's supposed to focus on.

on September 19, 2006For those of us still using the Rebels...this one is more than a 5 star. You did a great job with a camera that doesn't have the fast focusing ability of the D series and up. The position of the wings in flight is super. They almost look pleated!

on September 19, 2006The perspective here makes the bird look positively menacing! (I love ravens, too.) Very nice in b&w, indeed.
