  • Ready to Rumble<br />
<br />
(December 30, 2022) Charlie is game for just about anything, although he prefers it if it doesn't include Nanny.
  • Behind the Scenes<br />
<br />
(December 30, 2022) A not-so-photogenic Throwback Thursday shot of the preparation of the matriarchy shot posted on December 13, just to document the set-up, teamwork, and nuttiness. Jill on the left is starting to put on the fishing line halters. The horses were trying to access their motivation (and not all were finding it).
  • Stand-off<br />
<br />
(December 28, 2022) It took a while to get started today. I wanted Charlie to get up and he wanted me to come down to him.
  • Rez Dogs<br />
<br />
(December 27, 2022) Murphy and Petey get each other.
  • Santa Rex<br />
<br />
(December 26, 2022) The annual T-rex shot out the window at Cabazon.
  • Morning Walk<br />
<br />
(December 25, 2022) It's always time for a walk.
  • Hannukah and Christmas<br />
<br />
(December 24, 2022) My family celebrates everything. Tonight was the last night of Hannukah and Christmas eve.
  • Winter Still Life<br />
<br />
(December 23, 2022) Our bird bath created its own art this morning.
  • Cowgirl<br />
<br />
(December 22, 2022) Austyn got her own locker today. Prime location and the space is all hers to manage. She and Abby sorted out their shared gear for Maverick, and she moved all her tack and equipment in.
  • Light Garden<br />
<br />
(December 21, 2022) Starting tomorrow, the shadows will get shorter and the light spots bigger.
  • Winter Solstice<br />
<br />
(December 20, 2022) Last of the light on the day before the shortest day of the year. I'll be glad when it doesn't feel like midnight at 6 in the evening.
  • Fall Picnic<br />
<br />
(December 19, 2022) Bella and friends and a fall day.
  • Oh Boy<br />
<br />
(December 18, 2022) Charlie could hardly believe his good fortune this morning: lining up with friends AND trail obstacles, his two favorite things.
  • Wild Winter<br />
<br />
(December 17, 2022) A cold winter day in Norco and even the sculptures were feeling a little wild and wooly.
  • The Cutting String<br />
<br />
(December 16, 2022) Another one from the summer photo shoot of the BSJ (Barbara-Stacey-Jill) cutting horses with Stacey and Jill. For some reason, we didn't take a photo with Stacey and Jill together, so I inserted Jill's image from another photo with her horses. I don't like to engineer an image, but sometimes it is necessary.
  • Christmas Crop<br />
<br />
(December 15, 2022) My sister wanted to know how the oranges are doing. There are fewer than last year, but they are bigger.
  • Warm Up<br />
<br />
(December 14, 2022) After a chilly night and morning, Charlie and I decided to do warm-up walking out in the sun.
  • Matriarchy<br />
<br />
(December 13, 2022) On the National Day of the Horse, this image seems appropriate. It is the cutting horse lineage at the barn, from the matriarch on the left (now in her 30s) to her daughter, son, and daughter, and then to her granddaughter (now 4) on the right. The image was a full day effort involving several handlers, fishing line as halters, and a remote powered toy car for the attention of all horses at once.
  • Tag Champs<br />
<br />
(December 12, 2022) Shakey and Abby were the oldest-horse-to-youngest-kid and most determined and most well-behaved of the entire group.
