Full Steam Ahead

(December 11, 2017) Today is Gracey's 8th Adoption Day and the day she also officially turns at-least-13 years old. Blindness hasn't slowed her a bit. When we say, "Careful, Gracey," her response is full steam ahead or, as Jim says, "More gas!"

 • When you're a dog and no-one gives you cake

(December 10, 2017) Saydie would like to have participated more in Austyn's birthday party.
 • Photo(rapher) Critics

(December 9, 2017) This is why one takes multiple frames of the same shot. The models can be difficult.
 • Lean into Nature

(December 7, 2017) Fairmount Park at sunset is a favorite setting for many wedding photographers, but the littlest of their subjects get a little bored while waiting around to be posed. This little flower girl was clowning around with the ring bearer. I'm surprised they didn't fall in.
 • Be Kind

(December 7, 2017) With all the fire and wind and devastation in SoCal right now, this seemed like an appropriate image for the day. One can only hope that Mother Nature will take notice.
 • Watering Hole

(December 6, 2017) With the dry and windy conditions, the bees have been thirsty. They probably use the bird bath more than the birds.
 • Danger, Will Robinson!

(December 5, 2017) It is a well known equine fact that flags can eat horses, especially if they are sitting very still in a bucket. It's a trap.
 • Weekends in Horse Town

(December 4, 2017) And because I can't get enough of Tumbleweed. He looks so angelic here.
 • Big horse, tight turn

(December 3, 2017) Working on gymkhana photos today. This is the horse munching carrots in the photo seven days ago. He's an OTTB and will do anything for his person.
 • Reflection

(December 2, 2017) It was a good day to settle in with a crossword, some hot chocolate, and Pete Souza's book. There's a lot to emulate there, both as a photographer and a human being.
 • How It Started

(December 1, 2017) One of the Facebook series going around for the horse lovers is to post an old photo of when one's love for horses started. For me it was probably the Kate Seredy book, The Chestry Oak, still one of my favorites and favorite illustrations.
 • Found Love

(November 30, 2017) A found surprise at Fairmount Park. I took it home in a photo and left it for someone else to find as well.
 • Spa Day

(November 29, 2017) The fountain in the rose garden at Fairmount Park is a marvel for the birds that are passing through right now.
 • Warning - Shoot at your own risk

(November 28, 2017) Happy anniversary to my favorite dining companion, if not my most willing model. 11 years married, 15 years together, and he hasn't killed me yet for taking another photo of him.
 • Morning Zen

(November 27, 2017) There's a certain calm and reflection before the start of an event.
 • Picnic with a friend

(November 26, 2017) This might be my favorite shot from yesterday's gymkhana. This big guy was fishing carrots out of the cooler and enjoying watching the barrel racing with his owner and best friend.
 • Whoa!

(November 25, 2017) There were some very naughty ponies at today's gymkhana, and this pony, Tumbleweed, was at the top of the list.
 • Easy Now

(November 24, 2017) Finishing up some miscellaneous rodeo photos, and the pickup men, especially Bret Reeder, are always a good bet for an interesting image. This bronc could also be on a Roman frieze.
 • Sage Advice

(November 23, 2017) We took half of Austyn's advice for Thanksgiving: No turkey but we'll save the spaghetti for later.
 • Evening Roost

(November 22, 2017) The pelicans were tucking in for the night and pushing the cormorants out of the way.
