• Herald of 2010

(Dec. 31, 2009) May the year end and start on a high note for everyone in the community.
  • Party hearty

(Dec. 30, 2009) Be careful tonight ringing in the new year. Share a nut or something.
  • Driveby shooting

(Dec. 29, 2009) I did take some photos today, but I can't let December get away without the annual driveby t-rex shot from Banning Pass.
  • BFE

(Dec. 28, 2009) A shot from the trip back. I carried my camera with me today but didn't take any photos. This is what Jim fondly, well, sort of, calls this area. Not PC perhaps, but no more so than my referring to it as East Cupcake, MT. In fact, it is Congress, AZ and the start of a long descent into the Mojave Desert.
  • Follow the leader

(Dec. 27, 2009) Gracey learned about the joys of morning walks and being off leash from Bente, whom you can just make out in the background. About 100 yards from here, she finally realized that not only did she not need to heel, she didn't need to stay on the path either -- pretty exciting for a little city dog.
  • One foot in front of the other

(Dec. 26, 2009) My parents' dog, Bente, is more than 15 years old now and undertakes her morning walk with great determination.
  • Acme Camouflage

(Dec. 25, 2009) Just a roadrunner seen during a Christmas Day walk.
  • Arizona Outback

(Dec. 24, 2009) Luckily we gassed up in Quartzite, because everything here off the interstate was closed.
  • Cargo

(Dec. 23, 2009) These oranges, Gracey and we are headed to Arizona tomorrow. I'm showing the oranges here so that the family knows they are on their way. Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah and Happy Holidays to the daily photo community. Catch up with all of you on the other side of Christmas.
  • Settle down

(Dec. 22, 2009) Gracey had a tough day of holding the couch down. It's a hard job, but someone has to do it. Everyone keeps telling us that cattle dogs need a job, and I guess she has selected furniture herding as her career path. She's certainly very good at it.
  • Urban Wildlife

(Dec. 21, 2009) Just part of the urban underground around here.
  • Fall in Winter

(Dec. 20, 2009) We do have seasons here, just not at the same time as everyone else. This is the Santa Ana riverbottom, the river that Riverside is by the side of. Taken with the little G9 camera too, which seems to be feeling a little impressionistic this week.
  • Loving the dog door

(Dec. 19, 2009) Gracey demonstrates how the great dane door works. For a sense of scale, Gypsy's door is right next to it and she barely fits through at 9 pounds.
  • Where's that dang dog?

(Dec. 18, 2009) Gypsy is still quite cautious about Gracey. They're fine on the whole, but still need some supervision when outside together.
  • Live painting

(Dec. 17, 2009) This is out of my little G9 on automatic sports setting. It came out a little like a painting -- no filter, just a little sharpening and curves. Taken at Fairmount Park -- I was teaching Gracey the ropes about being a photodog, mainly to sit while I shoot.
  • Dogtired

(Dec. 16, 2009) Gracey demonstrates the meaning of putting one's dogs up and giving them a rest. In truth, her paws are probably pretty tired. She had a long day at work being our dog.
  • Get your ducks in a row

(Dec. 15, 2009) Are these canvasbacks?
  • Gracey hears a Who

(Dec. 14, 2009) Gracey explored the backyard today and found it satisfactory.
  • Downbeat

(Dec. 13, 2009) No photo of Gracey today, but she's doing great. Thanks for all the well wishes. No photos at all today. This is from last Tuesday, when I went out to annoy birds at Rancho Jurupa Park.
  • Evening #2

(Dec. 12, 2009) Gracey leaves the dog bed long enough for a bit of a snuggle.

Hope you were watching so NOT to get hit by cars while shooting!?!? Where'd you get to go for Christmas?

Looks like the road to Anza Borrega. I sure wish we had mountains around here...what great scenery there is to see out West.

I started singing... "On the road again...just can't wait to get on the road again..." Great expansive shot. Road trip!

Love the way you captured what I guess are the bumpy areas of the highway. Very nice.

Wow, love this shot. Must be great to have open roads like that

Looks so very, very familiar! Great shot and so typical of AZ. Thanks for letting me know where your family is in AZ.

My kind of place. Nice shot.

Love that open road and those mountains in the background! I think when people say "in the middle of nowhere," they're talking about the Arizona Outback? :-)
