(Jan. 13) It was really windy here today. This is the Peace Bridge on Mount Rubidoux, viewed from the relative shelter of the lower road. Sorry about the foreground rock. There's a tree to the left and Gus wanted to go home.

(Jan. 12) My neighbor let me take a shot of him welding today. It turns out he's with the Southern California Old Timers Motocross Racing Club and they have a site on Smugmug too! Here it is:

(Jan. 10) Yes, skateboard wheel. I thought I wrote out a whole caption and explanation last night, but I guess I didn't save it. In a moment of insanity, Jim bought me a skateboard last summer. I have fallen off of it more than ridden it. Jim made me buy a helmet after learning that I tried to ride the thing from the parking lot down a gentle slope to my office building holding a cup of coffee and some books. The skateboard made one of the turns, but the coffee, books, and I did not. But with a helmet, it occurs to me that this might be dangerous, so I haven't ridden it since. Smart man, that Jim.

(Jan. 9) January 10 is my sister Toni's birthday, and once a year I hijack this site to post a newly found photo of her during key points in history. This year's photos come from an unknown archive of WWII era photos in Andorra. The shot was taken right before the more famous shot of the three leaders, but right after they had engaged in wild snowball fight with Toni. The Russian soldier on the right is wondering whether she has stashed any additional snowballs near Churchill. Toni was known to have deadly aim even at a young age.

(Dec. 8) Gus went walkabout yesterday afternoon, breaking through our back fence and ending up on a neighbor's porch three blocks away. He just sat there waiting for someone to come home to a house he didn't know. Luckily the neighbor knew who he was and walked him around and hung out with him until I got home. Gus has been no more than two inches from me all day. I think he scared the bejeebers out of both of us, dang dingdong dog.

(Dec. 7) This is all I took today. The storms left and left snow. Gorgeous day all around, but apart from walking Gus, no time to shoot anything today.

(Jan. 5) Easyrider Bike Show, Pomona Fairplex. The crowd and exhibitions were a little light this year, but the craftsmanship wasn't. This is Henry from The Garage Pinstriper working on a helmet at the Vintage Klass vendor's booth. Gail is right -- I did a similar shot last year:

(Jan. 4) I went out to annoy wildlife before the storm hit and found this beauty at the Anza Narrows Park. She(?) was a little more uneasy about me than the one catching a rodent last week (Dec. 27). He was around too, but just playing tree potato and hangin' out. He's completely unperturbed by me. This one was definitely skittish.
