Andrea Kaus (ChaosGraphics) > Hope and Anticipation (Dec. 11, 2008) Today was our office Christmas party, which ended up as a "bowl off" between two departments. None of us are bowlers, but this person had bowled the least and was the most determined. This turned out exactly as she hoped. As to the question from yesterday as to whether I ever participate in Aikido training, the answer is yes.
Andrea Kaus (ChaosGraphics) > Careful with the sensei! (Dec. 10, 2008) Jim tested two students today, which included having them demonstrate a technique with him as the attacker. Nice movement and form here, but bad photographer. I could not figure out why I couldn't focus well, until I got home and investigated further -- I had it set on right point focus. Dumb,dumb,dumb. So this is an art shot now.
Andrea Kaus (ChaosGraphics) > Marsh Hawk marshing (December 9, 2008) I'm guessing this is a Northern Harrier. There were about four of them, all maddeningly just out of the reach of a 300mm lens. Thank goodness for good glass and IS.
Andrea Kaus (ChaosGraphics) > You put your right foot out . . . (Dec. 8, 2008) As cloudy as it was at the San Jacinto Wildlife Refuge, the water was glassy. I got a kick out of this Black-necked Stilt tripping the light fantastic with himself.
Andrea Kaus (ChaosGraphics) > Total Chaos (Dec. 7, 2008) San Jacinto Wildlife Refuge -- this is the start of the shoot, when it was total bird chaos everywhere, hard to separate the birds from their reflections, let alone each other. This is with minimal postprocessing -- sharpen, curves, brighten a bit. If you look closely, there's a lone stilt in the center, coots in the back, a plover in the front and some other unidentifiable birds flying toward the camera. Tomorrow I'll post some order out of the chaos.

In the enclosure that displays a model of the Stealth bomber, someone has also placed this little guard figure to protect the gate . . . because they seem to go together historywise? I'm wondering if it is some distant reference to Robosaurus.
