Andrea Kaus (ChaosGraphics) > Busted

(Jan. 15, 2009) Guys! Somehow I don't think he's pointing at the engine. The next shot was similar but replaces the guy on the left with an ever so slightly disapproving woman:

Andrea Kaus (ChaosGraphics) > Tracks

(Jan. 14, 2009) I'm a little slow. I've been thinking about one of the dp challenges from a month or so ago. I'm just a little self conscious about running out on the tracks to take the shot. This wasn't what I envisioned at all, but I kind of like how it turned out anyway.
Andrea Kaus (ChaosGraphics) > Urban color

(Jan. 13, 2009) These barrels always catch my eye. They are in a depressed industrial area along the railroad tracks, not really the place to wander about with camera equipment. This was a quick jump out of the car and shot through the RR fence. Dunno what they are for or why they are stacked.

(Jan. 12, 2009) The city's new year's resolution was to confuse my neighborhood, and they have done a good job. These signs went up three weeks ago, and we have a lot to figure out every Friday.
Andrea Kaus (ChaosGraphics) > Perceptions. Here's what Jim sees at a bike show.
And here's what I see:

(Jan. 11, 2009) It's all a bunch of nearly identical looking metal things to me -- a mix-and-match of two wheels and basic parts. Most of the bikers look identical to me as well. Since when do you get dressed up like everyone else to look like a rebel?
Andrea Kaus (ChaosGraphics) > Siren Call

(Jan. 10, 2009) We went to the Easy Rider Bike Show today, but what really caught Jim's eye was in the parking lot on the way out.
Andrea Kaus (ChaosGraphics) > Toni Crossing the Delaware

(Jan. 9, 2009) Happy Birthday, Toni! This year's main image was found by Papa, so you can thank him for uncovering it. I recommend that you view it in its larger format to appreciate how focused and dedicated to the task you were.

Once a year I post a photo that is not my own, but one that was found and researched through the Toni Project (TTP). It is posted today to be seen on January 10, Toni's birthday, so that she can see the progress of TTP's yearly efforts. This image is the original pen and ink sketch used for the final famous painting of Washington crossing the Delaware. Toni had learned a lot about American geography at school by coloring in maps (I remember this). Emanuel Gottlieb Leutze made the preliminary sketch while Toni was helping Washington chart the waters of the Delaware. Of course the men made her wear a life vest for safety. Gottlieb Leutze later painted Toni out for the final version, due to some misguided notion that boats should not mix genders. Note that Toni's hardiness here served her well later when accompanying Sir Peary to the North Pole, and cheering on Shackleton's crew during their journey.

The two other images found this year are posted at the end of the Toni Project gallery.

Toni was very, very busy when she was four and five.
Andrea Kaus (ChaosGraphics) > Purple in the face

(Jan. 8, 2009) Ever so slightly annoyed at the UCR Botanic Gardens. It was the last light of the afternoon. Here's the less annoyed side of the hummer:

Andrea Kaus (ChaosGraphics) > Old Warriors

(Jan. 7, 2009) An Agfa and a Kodak. Taken in the "studio" of my desk with a desk lamp for lighting. We're real high tech here.
Andrea Kaus (ChaosGraphics) > A Kodak Moment

(Jan. 6, 2009) Jim's dad gave us two old cameras he had. This is one of them. I just saw Melissa's shot of nearly the same camera (coincidental or great minds run in the same direction), I realize that it is set up to be more of a vertical format. I'll try one right side up tomorrow. If I give it another try tonight, either the cat or I will kill the other.
Andrea Kaus (ChaosGraphics) > Breath throw

(Jan. 5, 2009) All I have for the day -- some very tolerant guys throwing each other around so I can have a daily photo.
Andrea Kaus (ChaosGraphics) > Passing through

(Jan. 4, 2009) It was a cold and windy day (as opposed to a dark and stormy night) and not much was going on anywhere. These Canada Geese are migrating through, but they stayed grounded for the day.
Andrea Kaus (ChaosGraphics) > Drawn out

(Jan. 3, 2009) Jim gave me a graphics pad for Christmas, and I ended up drawing myself out of the picture.
Andrea Kaus (ChaosGraphics) > Close Study

(Jan. 2, 2009) Gypsy's new year's resolution is to understand dogs better. Gus's resolution is to not let her bug him.
Andrea Kaus (ChaosGraphics) > Poised for the new year

(Jan. 1, 2009) A lazy afternoon at the egret tree in Fairmount Park.
